at work: Pastel Palette

One of my recent projects at Ruche was styling our Pastel Palette feature. We've all been getting so excited thinking about spring, especially when it comes to pretty pastel colors! Just because spring is technically a few months away doesn't mean we can't start incorporating lighter colors into our wardrobes now. I think that having a balance of pastels with darker colors, or neutrals, is key to tying the seasons together. Here are a couple of my favorite looks from the shoot:

look book: all that glitters is sequins

Yep, I was in shorts one day and then rainboots the next. One thing some of you may know is that I loooove the rain! I'm pretty much obsessed with it and anytime there's even the slightest chance of rainfall {even 10%} I get very giddy! Such is the story of Saturday. When I saw it drizzling outside my bedroom window I quickly planned on wearing my rainboots that I got three years ago and have worn a sad amount of times. Of course within a couple hours the skies were clear and I just looked like the biggest fool for traipsing around in galoshes. Oh well, you win some you lose some.

I'm of the mindset that it's never too early or too late to wear sequins. Sequins really aren't just for holiday. They're also for helping perk up what was supposed to be a gray day, and then eventually blinding Matthew in the car on a sunny one!

the newest member of the Delightful Dozen

So, some exciting news for this Wednesday morning! I was picked to be one of the newest members of the Delightful Dozen! If you're not familiar with the DD, you have to check it out! The blog project follows 12 different girls, living throughout the United States and shows how they mix and remix clothes. It's kind of like The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants but it's not just jeans! Some of my favorite bloggers are a part of this group and I'm so excited for this incredible opportunity! It will be fun to see some of my clothes travel across the country and into some very fashionable hands!

look book: the birds

I love this new trend in "animal" prints. There are the cutest blouses and dresses with ducks, elephants, even horses, floating about that remind us these prints aren't just for little ones under 5.  I love this top with the birds and every time I look down I can't help but smile! Now if only they could teach me how to fly :)

Our temperamental LA weather this weekend had me in shorts one day and rainboots the next.

sundays at the dog park

One thing I love about the weekends, besides being able to sleep in and that whole 'you don't have to go to work thing,' is taking Ginger to the dog park. They say a child's excitement is contagious, and that's exactly how I feel about Ginger, my puppy child's, thrill once we round that corner and she knows dog heaven is minutes away. She starts this crazy whimpering that just makes you laugh and you tell her to settle down, thinking she knows what that even means, and she jumps out of the car ready to make some dog and human friends. Matthew and I throw the ball to her {my aim is the worst}, she runs to fetch it as fast as her four legs will carry her, she meets some pals {Jasper is her favorite}, and always comes back to check in with "Mom and "Dad." 

I love this little blueboo of mine!  

 there's also a whole lot of butt sniffing that goes on!

This dress was one of my favorite party pieces during the holidays and I love how you can also dress it down with a button up shirt underneath. It's an easy way to layer and make your closet a little more versatile. I think it's especially perfect to do

There's something about pairing blacks and whites together that I love! I thought it would be fun to throw some stripes and polka dots into the mix as well. I feel like it gives the look a little more depth, and it's a lot more fun :)

goodbye angeli caffe

Wednesday night Matthew and I mourned the closing of one of our favorite LA restaurants, Angeli Caffe. We went there on some of our first Los Angeles dates and it's been a favorite for delicious and affordable Italian food. The restaurant has been around for 27 years which makes the closing even more sad. We'll always remember you Angeli!
